Jacob Samuel Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jacob Samuel, 91, of Bordentown, passed away on June 2, 2022. He was born on January 30, 1931 to Samuel and Hakim Bibi in Sialkot, Pakistan. Jacob Samuel, pen name Shinwa (the listener), received his early education at CTI (The Christian Training Institute) High School, Barah Pather, Sialkot. He graduated from Murray College, Sialkot, and went on to receive his Master's in Urdu from the Punjab University in Lahore, Pakistan, where he also completed his Diploma in Business Administration and Bachelor's in Education. An educationist all his life, he worked as a teacher at St. Anthony's High School, Lahore, for over 25 years; teaching Mathematics, Urdu and English to middle and high school students. He was lovingly known as 'Sir Samuel' by the young men he taught and mentored. He was the School Principal for St. Andrew's High School, Lahore, for another 10 years, where he earned love and respect of faculty and students alike for his dedicated work. For most of his life, he belonged to St. Andrew's Church, Lahore, where he served as an active member of the congregation, on the Parish Council, as Treasurer and as Lay Reader. An author and a poet, his Christian hymns have been put into song by noted composers of Pakistan. As an interpreter and linguist, he has translated over 200 evangelical and faith-based books from English to Urdu over a span of about four decades. During that time, he worked with MIK (Masihi Ishaat Khana/Christian Publishing House), Pakistan Bible Society, Church Foundation Seminars and various other Christian organizations. He had the unique gift to put complex thoughts, philosophy and theological concepts into simple words. He was a loving husband and father, a humble and simple man loved by his colleagues, students, friends and family. Jacob Samuel's legacy lives on in his daughter, Inbisat (Christopher) Sheikh of Bordentown, NJ; three sons Mukhlis (Samar) Samuel of Kendall Park, NJ; Zeerak (Huma) Samuel of Islamabad, Pakistan and Aizaz (Peace) Samuel of Oakville, Canada; brother, Johnson (Rosy) Samuel; sister, Jasmine Gulab and nine grandchildren, Aiser, Samad, Aaron, Aazer, Ohad, Neer, Shayna, Abiyah and Zeke. He was preceded to heaven by his wife, Sosan. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11th from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM at Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown, NJ.
