Lindsey Althea Burgess

Browns Mills - Lindsey Althea Burgess, known to many as Cheyenne, slipped quietly to rest Tuesday, December 15, 2004. A longtime resident of Browns Mills, Lindsey has been active been active in the community for many years. In the early 90’s she was the proprietor of an early childhood development center. Later she owned & operated a small boutique called a Touch Of Class and "Chey’s Place". During her life she has been a foster parent to many children. She organized local turkey drives for soldiers and local churches. Lindsey owned and operated Single Parent Action Programs and she was a member of Christian Caring Center. As a SSGT in the United States Army, she dutifully served a total of twenty-four years between active and reserve service. While not on active duty Lindsey worked with the New Jersey Challenge Youth Program at Fort Dix, where she was a Supervisor. Lindsey was a faith member of Holy Light Church of Burlington where she attended regularly. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Roy Burgess; her daughters, Deisaray, Phonecia and Courtney Burgess all of the home; her In-Laws, Roy & Irene Burgess of Chicago, IL; her sisters, Barbara Price of Midland, VA and Angelica Moore of Washington, DC; a brother Anthony Blackwell of Bellmawr, NJ; two nieces, Kimberlee Smith and Jennifer Price; three nephews, Richard Johnson, Anthony Blackwell, Jr. and Darrell Blackwell. Lindsey also leaves a "special Family" her military unit – the Range Dogs. Along with a host of other family member, friends and neighbors. Funeral Services will be 1pm Tuesday at the Fort Dix Chapel, Fort Dix , N.J. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.Visitation will be Tuesday from 11am until the time of service at the Fort Dix Chapel.
