Paul Henry Boenig

Pemberton Twp. – Paul Henry Boenig, 76, of Browns Mills passed away Friday at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born in Newark, Paul moved to Browns Mills in 1952. Having served his country during WWII as a Merchant Marine, he continued to serve in the New Jersey Air National Guard at McGuire AFB. During this time he was activated for Korea in 1950 and the Berlin Crisis in 1960. During more peaceful times, he was a member of the Governor’s ground crew stationed with 170th ARG. After retiring from the Air National Guard he stayed on with the Civil Engineering Group of the 108th TFW/ARG. In 1953 he joined the Browns Mills Fire Company No.1, where he was an active member until his passing. He served on every major committee. Other positions he held were: Asst. Chief, Chief, Vice President, President and President of Fireman’s Relief Assoc. in 1986. He was an active member in the Merchant Marine Association and Coast Guard Auxillary. When not serving his nation or community, he motored his boats in the Forked River area. Son of the late Frederick and Edna Evans Boenig and husband of the late Henriette Niski Boenig, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Barbara Boenig and Joseph Boenig all of Browns Mills; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Theresa Cathers of St. Joseph, MO; Karen Arnce of Browns Mills; Paula and Joseph Blake of Tampa, FL; and Marita and William Kemp of Wildwood; one brother, Carl Boenig of Fl; a sister Catherine of Highbridge; pop-pop to 9 Grandchildren, Cheryl, Thomas, Lesa, Sandra, Theodore, Laura, Heather, JodiLynn, and Carrie; 10 Great Grandchildren; and his best buddy, James. Funeral Service will be held 11:30am Thursday at the Moore Funeral Home, 371 Lakehurst Rd., Browns Mills. Burial will follow in the B.G.W.C.D. Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be 7-9pm Wednesday and 10:30-11:30am Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Browns Mills Volunteer Fire Co.
