John P. "Jack" Gillespie, 86, of Browns Mills passed away Thursday at his home. Born in Donegal, Ireland, he has resided in Browns Mills for the past 47 years. Jack was a highly decorated US Army veteran; wounded in action, he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, and the Purple Heart. He and his wife Conny were the former owners of JC Market in Browns Mills and later JC Liquors & Lounge. He was a past member of the Pemberton Township Zoning Board of Adjustment, St. Ann’s RC Church, the Holy Name Society, founding member of the Pemberton Township Chamber of Commerce, Disabled American Veterans, Pemberton Twp. Eden F. Stanley American Legion, life member of the VFW Post 6805 of Browns Mills, and a charter member of the Hanover Country Club. Husband of the late Constance E. “Conny” Gillespie, Jack is survived by his beloved family: sons Dennis J. Gillespie and spouse Jean of Galloway Twp., NJ, John C. Gillespie and spouse Kate of Marlton, NJ, and Edward W. Gillespie and spouse Cathy of Mt. Vernon, VA; daughters Sharyn C. Taets and spouse Dennis of Horseheads, NY, Joanne Gibbs and spouse George of Browns Mills, and Mary Therese "Tracy" Gillespie of Collingswood, NJ; twelve grandchildren; a sister Sr. Theresa Gillespie, SSJ, of Flourtown, PA, and several nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 10:30 am at St. Ann’s RC Church, 22 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ. Burial will follow in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be Monday, April 21, 2008, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm, and Tuesday, April 22, 2008, from 9 to 10 am at the Moore Funeral Home, 371 Lakehurst Road, Browns Mills.
